BSC Bulletin 324 - Infrastructure upgrades affecting MODIS submissions on Sunday 26 January 2020

What is happening?

National Grid ESO have informed us that there will be infrastructure upgrade on their systems between 01:00 (GMT) and 05:00 (GMT) on Sunday 26 January 2020 which will require an outage on MODIS. MODIS sends Loss of Load Probability (LoLP), De-rated Margin (DRM), REMIT and European Transparency Regulation (ETR) data from National Grid to the Balancing Mechanism Reporting Service (BMRS).  During the planned downtime, MODIS will not be sending any data sent to the BMRS.

How will I be affected?

Market Participants will not be able to submit ETR and REMIT data via FTP to MODIS, hence ACKS/NACKs will not be received. The files will be processed post outage and hence a delay in ACKS/ NACKS during this time, and will be sent once the outage completes.

Furthermore, MODIS data (LoLP, DRM,  Non-BM STOR Volumes, ETR and REMIT) will not be published to the BMRS for the duration of the outage. These files will be updated once the outage is completed.

Parties who currently submit their REMIT data via ELEXON Portal will not be impacted by this outage and the data will continue to be published on BMRS as normal.

What do I need to do?

You do not need to take any specific action but just note the impact of the infrastructure upgrade.

Do I need to take any further action?

No, however any BSC Parties having questions for National Grid regarding this planned outage should phone 0800 917 7111 or 0800 085 4806. Overseas callers should use +44 870 521 6121 and quote “NETA EDT”.
