Possible National Grid MODIS downtime tomorrow 26 June 2018
What is happening?
National Grid has informed us that there may be a short period of downtime on MODIS (Market Operation Data Interface System) tomorrow 26 June 2018 between 13:00 (BST) and 14:00 (BST).
MODIS sends Loss of Load Probability (LoLP), De-rated Margin (DRM), REMIT and European Transparency Regulation (ETR) data from National Grid to the Balancing Mechanism Reporting Service (BMRS).
How will I be impacted?
Users will still be able to submit data via SFTP to MODIS during the downtime and this data will be processed normally during the outage. In addition, users will still be able to login normally via the web application and REMIT and ETR XML submissions will be sent to BMRS during this outage.
There is a slight possibility that half hourly LoLP and DRM data publication could be affected for some or all of this outage period. National Grid is aiming to deploy the update between half hourly runs to avoid any impact on reporting. In addition, this data should be able to be sent manually if required, but if this is not possible, any affected runs will not be published retrospectively, which is in accordance with the BSC.
Participants who submit REMIT data via the ELEXON Portal will not be impacted and National Grid’s Balancing Mechanism (BM) systems will also be unaffected by this planned downtime.
What do I need to do?
Parties are not required to take any further action but note the potential impact of this planned downtime on LoLP and DRM data publication.
