National Grid MODIS downtime: Friday 8 June 2018
What is happening?
National Grid has informed us that there will be a one hour interruption to the MODIS service (Market Operation Data Interface System) for essential maintenance on Friday 8 June 2018 between 08:00 (BST) and 09:00 (BST).
MODIS sends Loss of Load Probability (LoLP), De-rated Margin (DRM), European Transparency Regulation (ETR) and REMIT data from National Grid to the Balancing Mechanism Reporting Service (BMRS).
How will I be impacted?
Users will not be able to submit data via SFTP to MODIS during this downtime and this data will be processed after the outage. They will also not be able to login via the web application for submissions via the Graphical User Interface (GUI).
Users will not receive acknowledgements/negative acknowledgements (ACKS/NACKS). These will be queued and once the outage is over, ACKS and NACKS will flow through to market participants.
ETR automated reports e.g. Actual Total Load (ATL) will also be affected. During this planned downtime there will be a delay in the data sent to ENTSO-E Transparency Platform. These will be queued and sent after the outage for publication on BMRS and Transparency Platform.
De-rated Margin and LOLPDM information will not be published during the outage period.
Participants who submit REMIT data via the ELEXON Portal will not be impacted and National Grid’s Balancing Mechanism (BM) systems will also be unaffected by this planned downtime.
What do I need to do?
Parties are not required to take any further action but note the potential impact of this planned downtime on their ETR and REMIT data submissions and normal MODIS ETR reporting.
A similar short outage next week is likely to occur. Further details will be confirmed as soon as possible.
